The Ivory Coast: Crisis and Solutions
The Ivory Coast faced numerous political conflicts periodically from 2002 to 2011. Due to the constant civil wars, the water infrastructures were greatly deteriorated. It is only in 2011, when Alssane Ouattara takes the power, that the country starts to rebuilt itself. Today, the vast majority of the country has access to clean water.
Venezuela and China: Investments in the oil industry
Venezuela’s history can’t be separated from the oil industry’s history, since it has been dependent on oil since the nineteenth century. Venezuela has hosted foreign oil companies since the industrialization, but the last years of political crisis have made investors grow scarce. Today, the only major investor in the country is China.
Honors Calculus Presentations
As a part of the Honors Calculus courses, I presented two projects on Calculus. Each presentation was recorded in the Santa Fe media studio. For my Calculus 1 project, I presented the works of Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz, and their contributions to calculus. For my Calculus 2 project, I presented different families of Polar Curves.
The Synthesis of Aspirin
It is possible to synthesize aspirin using Salicylic acid and Acetic anhydride. There are two main objectives for this experiment: synthesize a sample of Acetylsalicylic acid, and analyse the sample obtained by measuring its melting temperature, and conduct a spectrophotometric analysis of it. This two objectives allow us to determine if the protocol used can be validated.
